1️⃣ Hiking Mount Batok (Figures 1-4)
The climb from the base to the summit of Mount Batok covers 900 meters in distance with a 300-meter elevation gain, taking about 1 hour one way. While the slope is steep, the difficulty level is moderate. The view of Mount Bromo from Batok's peak offers a unique and awe-inspiring perspective.
2️⃣ Tumpak Sewu Waterfall (Figures 5-10)
Known as the "King of Waterfalls," Tumpak Sewu means "a thousand waterfalls" and features a dramatic 120-meter drop. The best time to visit is during the rainy season (February–March) when water flow peaks. It's just a 10-minute walk from the parking lot to the top viewpoint, but adventurous visitors can descend to the base. Note: Access to the base may be restricted during peak rainy months (November–March) due to safety risks.
Located 87.5 km (3-hour drive) south of Mount Bromo's base village, Cemoro Lawang, and closer to Malang (64 km, 2-hour drive), Tumpak Sewu fits perfectly into an itinerary like: Malang → Tumpak Sewu → Mount Bromo → Surabaya, ensuring a seamless northbound journey.
3️⃣ Mount Semeru Viewpoint at Desa Oro-Oro Ombo (Figures 11-12)
Coordinates: -8.182347, 112.988518
In Supit Village near Probolinggo, this rice field spot frames Mount Semeru perfectly. The viewpoint lies southeast of Semeru, 65 km (2h50m drive) from Cemoro Lawang.
4️⃣ Madakaripura Waterfall (Figures 3-4)
At 200 meters tall, this waterfall within Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is Java's highest and Indonesia's second-highest. Situated between Mount Bromo and Probolinggo, it's 28.9 km (1-hour drive) from Cemoro Lawang. Allow 1 hour for the round-trip hike and 40 minutes to explore the falls.
