Uji's Popular Hydrangea Shrine with Over 10,000 Blooms

Date: June 15
Located in the Mimuroto area of Uji, Mimuroto-ji Temple is a well-known spot in the Keihan region for viewing hydrangeas, also known as ajisai flowers. The temple boasts over 30,000 hydrangea blooms.

Currently, it's the rainy season, with overcast skies and high humidity. However, hydrangeas thrive in such conditions, so don't let the weather dampen your spirits. If you're visiting Uji, consider stopping by Mimuroto-ji Temple.

To visit the temple's main hall and participate in worship, you'll need to climb a steep staircase with over a hundred steps to reach the area where you can touch the sacred cow and rabbit statues.

The temple is about a 10-minute walk from Mimuroto Station on the Keihan Uji Line. After exiting the station, turn left and walk straight. Note that the pedestrian path is relatively narrow. While there is parking available near the entrance, public transportation is highly recommended.
