The world's smallest country, Vatican City

#EuropeanTravel

The Vatican City, located in Rome, is the smallest country in the world in terms of territory and population. It is a Catholic state ruled by the Holy See, located in the northwest of Rome, Italy. It became an independent state with sovereignty by the Lateran Treaty signed between the Kingdom of Italy and the Holy See on February 11, 1929.

The territory is only 0.44㎢, including the Vatican Palace and St. Peter's Basilica, surrounded by walls, excluding Castel Gandolfo and the Archdiocese and Cathedral outside Rome. It is usually a place to visit as a day tour package from Rome☺️
