I recently visited Murakami Ryokuchi Park in Yachiyo City to see the higanbana, also known as red spider lilies. As I walked through the park, I was mesmerized by the breathtaking scene—an endless carpet of vivid red flowers stretching deep into the woods.
Each blossom, with its long, delicate stamens and pistils, looked like a work of art, almost like traditional Japanese mizuhiki knots. There was a quiet stillness in the air, and the contrast of the deep red petals against the greenery created a peaceful yet powerful atmosphere.
If you’re ever near Chiba in early autumn, this hidden gem is definitely worth a visit.
