Lanyang Museum Permanent Exhibition: A Journey into Early Taiwanese Life

Stepping into the permanent exhibition at Lanyang Museum feels like entering a time capsule of Taiwan's memories. The exhibition not only showcases the natural and cultural heritage of Yilan but also uses realistic models and everyday objects to recreate the authentic scenes of early rural villages, towns, and fishing communities.

I was particularly drawn to the display of an old-style grocery store and a wooden street, which transported me back to the 1950s, as if I could hear the familiar cries of street vendors. There are also restored scenes of fishermen at work, women weaving, and temple parade displays, each brimming with the daily wisdom and emotions of our ancestors.

This is more than just an exhibition—it's an experience. Here, I saw Yilan, and I also saw the grounded and aesthetic way of life in early Taiwanese society.

📍Location: Lanyang Museum (No. 750, Section 3, Qingyun Road, Toucheng Township, Yilan County)
