Central Red Army Long March Departure Memorial Park

The Central Red Army Long March Departure Memorial Park is located at the Dongmen Ferry in Yudu County, Jiangxi Province. It was built in 2009 to commemorate the departure of the Central Red Army from Yudu on the Long March. It is a national 4A-level tourist attraction. The memorial park consists of a visitor service center, a small square with a theme sculpture, an assembly square, a memorial square, and the Central Red Army Long March Departure Memorial Hall. A walkway runs through the park like a flying red ribbon, connecting the various parts and showcasing the magnificent journey of the Central Red Army on the Long March. Yudu County was the location of the CPC Gannan Provincial Committee and the Gannan Provincial Soviet Government during the Central Soviet Area period. It was the assembly and departure point of the Central Red Army for the Long March, the last base of the Central Soviet Area, the origin of the three-year guerrilla war in the south, the birthplace of the Long March spirit, one of the all-red counties in the Central Soviet Area, and one of the places where the Soviet Area spirit was formed. It was the birthplace of 16 generals of the People's Republic of China. In October 1934, more than 86,000 soldiers of the Central Red Army crossed the Yudu River overnight and set out resolutely, leaving a winding 25,000-mile-long red ribbon across China and writing a magnificent epic.
