Hike Mount Emei and feel its beautiful scenery and Buddhist culture throughout the process

Now the transportation is convenient, and most parts of the country can reach the foot of Mount Emei within a day. Mount Emei is 3,099 meters above sea level, covers an area of 154 square kilometers, and is known as the "Emei World Show". There are two ways to go up the mountain: on foot or by sightseeing bus. The scenic sightseeing bus route is relatively fast and convenient, after arriving at the terminal Leidongping from the visitor center, it takes about an hour to walk to the Golden Peak; Mannenji Temple also has a stop where you can go up the mountain or back. Here, I will focus on introducing the whole hiking guide from my personal experience.

Because Mount Emei is large and high-altitude, the hiking time is long and the physical requirements are high; It usually takes 1-2 days to go up the mountain to reach the Golden Peak, and there are many temples along the way where you can eat and stay. Because I had to stop and shoot along the way and my physical strength was limited, I spent two days staying at the Thousand Buddha Zen Monastery in Hongchunping for one night, and the next afternoon I arrived at the Golden Peak, tired enough to choke, and stayed at the Golden Peak for another night, and on the third day I took the scenic bus to Wannian Temple, stayed at Wannian Temple for another night, and returned to Chongqing on the fifth day. Mount Emei has a quiet environment, green in all seasons, pleasant scenery, many temples along the way, and very few pedestrians, so you can feel the rare purity. If your physical strength allows, hiking Mount Emei is the best choice. The hiking route up the mountain is basically fixed, roughly: Shanmen Square - Fuhu Temple - Qingyin Pavilion - Hongchun Ping - Xianfeng Temple - Xixiang Pond - Leidongping - Golden Peak. There are many intersections at the beginning of the climb, so pay attention to the signs and observe carefully. Choose to travel in the off-season for a better experience.

5. Fuhu Temple was the first temple I entered after climbing the mountain. The whole temple is spacious, transparent, clean and quiet, except for the breeze transmitting birdsong and the occasional ringing of bells, there is no noise.(Note: Fuhu Temple is on the branch line of the mountaineering route, and you need to return to the main line to continue climbing after the visit)

10. Not far from Qingyin Pavilion is the monkey area. The monkey buddies are very naughty, take the initiative to grab food, frolic with tourists, and get angry at any time. Just pass by and watch, don't take the initiative to tease and don't look afraid and fearful, so as not to be misunderstood by Brother Monkey. There are managers stationed here for maintenance, so there is no need to worry too much about safety issues.

12. Traveling all the way, when I arrived at the Hongchunping Thousand Buddha Monastery, it was already 4 pm, and I was tired and hungry, so I decided to stay here for one night. You can simply wash up, provide vegetarian food, and eat with monks.

14. At about 3 p.m., we arrived at the Golden Peak. The very universal Bodhisattva sits upright in the center, scorching and shining; The ten directions refer to the ten vows of the Bodhisattva: honoring the Buddhas, praising the Tathagata, making extensive offerings, repenting of karma, rejoicing in merit, please turn to fanlun, inviting the Buddha to live in the world, always following Buddhism, always obeying all sentient beings, and turning to the world, and also refers to the southeast, northwest, northeast, northwest, southeast, southwest, up, and down, and the ten avatars with different expressions represent the ten mentalities of the world. It means that the boundless vows of the universal virtuous can fulfill the Buddhas and sentient beings of the ten directions and three generations; Puxian Bodhisattva sits upright on the golden peak of Emei, blessing all good people with long-lasting, auspicious and healthy health!

15. The golden top in the evening. Almost no one else was seen, and a person strolled quietly on the Golden Peak, feeling the rare freshness, pleasure and detachment, and his mood had gone far away with the mountain breeze and the sea of clouds.

18. I took a minibus from Jinding and stayed at Wannian Temple for one night. In the Wannian Temple, where the tourists dispersed, I felt the tranquility and heavy historical atmosphere of this famous temple alone. Wannian Temple was built during the Long'an period of the Eastern Jin Dynasty in 401 and rebuilt in 876 of Tang Qianfu; It has been named Puxian Temple, Baishui Temple, and Baishui Puxian Temple; The Ming Wanli Emperor changed its name to Wannian Temple. The four big characters of the gate of Wannian Temple seem to have the same meaning whether read left or right - "mountain is vast" and "big bright mountain".
