Wenyou Terrace is located on Dongshan Mountain behind the Taishan Temple, northeast of Gaoyou City. One of the Eight Scenic Spots of Ancient Qinyou, Wenyou Terrace was first built during the Taiping Xingguo period of the Northern Song Dynasty. It earned its name because Su Shi, while visiting Gaoyou, met here with local luminaries Qin Guan ( Qin Shaoyou ) , Sun Jue, and Wang Gong, where they drank wine and discussed essays.

The walls of Wenyou Terrace are decorated with calligraphy by renowned masters, possessing high artistic value. To the west is the Four Sages' Shrine, built during the Ming Dynasty. Museums flanking the terrace provide a window into Gaoyou's history and culture. The terrace, along with the Zhenguo Temple Pagoda to the west and the Chalou and Jingtu Temple Pagodas to the east, creates a quaint yet beautiful triangular silhouette.
