Gaoyou Kuilou, originally named Kuixing Pavilion, is located in the southeast corner of Gaoyou City, on the city wall. It is one of the few provincial cultural relics protection units in Gaoyou City . It was built in the third year of Tianqi in the Ming Dynasty ( 1623 ).
Gaoyou Kuilou is a brick-and-wood pavilion-style structure, three stories high, eight sides, and 20 meters tall. The first floor has a north-facing door, while the second and third floors have doors on all four sides. The ceiling of each floor is decorated with colorful paintings of dragons, phoenixes, and bats, symbolizing good fortune and happiness. From the tower, the view is expansive, offering a panoramic view of Gaoyou's beautiful scenery.
Climbing the tower to enjoy the view was a popular hobby for Gaoyou scholars in ancient times. Kuixing Pavilion is surrounded by famous trees, including an ancient pine tree that is over 500 years old, with a strong and upright trunk and twisted branches.
