
The Gaoyou Wang Family Memorial Hall, located in the middle of Xihou Street, an old street in the southwest of Gaoyou City, displays various editions of the works of Wang Niansun and Wang Yinzhi, father and son, as well as monographs by modern and contemporary experts and scholars commenting on their philological contributions, and calligraphy and paintings commemorating them. The hall, covering over 1,000 square meters, is a grand exhibition.
Wang Niansun and Wang Yinzhi are outstanding representatives of the Qianlong and Jiaqing schools and backbone scholars of the Yangzhou school. The father and son Wang not only systematically sorted out many documents and classics, but also achieved fruitful results in specialized fields such as phonology, literature, exegesis and collation.
The father and son Wang wrote many works. Their representative works, "Guangya Shuzheng", "Reading Magazine", "Jingyi Shuwen" and "Jingzhuan Shici", are collectively known as " Gaoyou Wang's Four Works " and are the most famous works of the Qianlong and Jiaqing Schools.
