The General Peng Xuefeng Memorial Hall, located in Balizhuang Village, 17 kilometers northeast of Xiayi County, commemorates the heroic sacrifice of Peng Xuefeng, commander and political commissar of the New Fourth Army's Fourth Division, on September 11, 1944. The hall is surrounded by verdant pines and cypresses. A striking horizontal monument faces the entrance, inscribed on the front with "The Place Where General Gu Xuefeng Martyred for His Country." The back of the monument contains an inscription detailing Peng Xuefeng's life and deeds. A bust of General Peng Xuefeng stands in the center, with the five characters "General Peng Xuefeng" inscribed on the front of the base. Other structures include the "Comrade Peng Xuefeng's Deeds Exhibition Hall," the "Former Site of the New Fourth Army's Fourth Division Headquarters," and the "Remains of General Peng's Body." The exhibition hall displays an introduction to General Peng Xuefeng's life and combat experience, along with 240 prints. The museum's well-preserved cultural relics are designated a provincial key cultural relic protection unit.
