Introducing Huaihai Campaign Chenguanzhuang Memorial Hall

The Chenguanzhuang Memorial Hall of the Huaihai Campaign is located south of Chenguanzhuang Village in Yongcheng, north of National Highway 311. It was built to commemorate the martyrs who died in the annihilation campaign in the Chenguanzhuang area during the third phase of the Huaihai Campaign. In 1963, the people of Yongcheng built the Chenguanzhuang Huaihai Campaign Martyrs Cemetery, and later constructed the Huaihai Campaign Memorial Hall and the Martyrs' Deeds Exhibition Hall.

The Martyrs' Cemetery, situated north-facing and south-facing, covers over 200 mu (approximately 1,000 acres). Atop the main gate is an iron inscription reading "Huaihai Campaign Martyrs' Cemetery." To the west, inscriptions read "Heroic Spirit Forever," while to the east, inscriptions read "Noble Spirit Forever." The cemetery is shaded by verdant pines and cypresses, creating a harmonious and solemn atmosphere. In the center of the cemetery stands a 25-meter-tall granite monument to the martyrs, inscribed with the words "Huaihai heroes will live forever."

Behind the monument is a circular cemetery, with pavilions at each corner dedicated to the heroic deeds of 15 martyrs. Screens commemorating the deeds of older proletarian revolutionaries flank the pavilions. Behind the cemetery are 651 martyrs' tombs neatly arranged. In front of each martyr's monument stands a white marble stele inscribed with the martyr's name, birthplace, and life story.

To the east and west of the monument are the Huaihai Campaign Memorial Hall and the Martyrs' Deeds Exhibition Hall, both of which are decorated with courtyards in ethnic style. The memorial halls display over 400 artifacts, historical photos, and other materials, providing a detailed account of the organization and command of the Huaihai Campaign.
