Introducing Jiujiang Fairy Cave

Xianren Cave, located at the western foot of Tianchi Mountain in Lushan Mountain, is a rock cave formed by a sand cliff. The natural formation was formed by the continuous weathering of nature and the long-term erosion of the mountains and rivers. Because of its shape resembling a Buddha's hand, it is named Buddha's Hand Rock.

Here, the cliffs offer shelter, the clear springs provide solace, and overlooking the mountains, one can admire the vast expanse of white clouds and the majestic river, creating a sense of detachment from the world. This place is not only a beloved scenic spot for tourists, but also a sacred place for Taoists. Legend has it that the renowned Tang Dynasty Taoist Lü Dongbin cultivated himself in this cave, achieving immortality. Later generations renamed the Buddha's Hand Rock the Immortal Cave to honor Lü Dongbin.

Xianren Cave is approximately 10 meters high and deep. Deep within its depths, a clear spring drips, known as "One Drop Spring." It's said that this spring has been dripping for thousands of years without drying up. Beneath the spring lies a pool surrounded by stone railings. Inscriptions such as "Dongtian Jade Liquid" are carved into the cave walls. Legend has it that the Sword Immortal, one of the Eight Immortals, achieved immortality here. Whenever clouds and mist linger, the cave suddenly adds a touch of celestial aura.

The entrance to Xianren Cave is a circular stone gate. The characters "Xianren Cave" are engraved in the center above the gate. Couplets are carved on both sides: "The immortal's traces are like the yellow crane, while human affairs recall the white lotus." Upon entering the circular gate, a huge rock lies across the mountain, resembling a giant toad stretching its legs, ready to leap. It is known as the "Toad Rock."

Atop the rock stands a pine tree, known as the stone pine. Its green arms stretch out in an embrace. Its densely packed branches and leaves are lush and vibrant. Its exposed roots, however, stand tall against the wind for millennia, demonstrating the uniquely strong and unyielding character of the Lushan pine. It is a truly remarkable sight on Mount Lushan's Kuangshan.

Carved into the stone face beneath the pine trees are the four characters "Zongguan Yunfei," believed to be written by the poet Chen Sanli of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China. Following the winding stone path down, a cave suddenly appears amidst the verdant cliffs, seven meters high and over 14 meters deep. The walls are pockmarked with wrinkles of ice and rock, their crisscrossing and slanting patterns clearly bearing witness to its long history. This is the Immortal Cave.

Inside the cave lies a stone pavilion, the Chunyang Hall. Inside, a stone statue of Lü Chunyang (Dongbin) bears a sword. On either side are two couplets: "Called Master or Ancestor, Taoist or Confucian" and "The ancient cave has been mysterious for thousands of years, and Yueyang has become a place of intoxication for the immortals three times."

At the deepest part of the cave, two springs flow down the rocks, dripping into a natural stone cellar with a melodious tinkling sound. This is the "One Drop Spring," recorded in the Book of the Later Han Dynasty, which has never dried up for a thousand years. The cellar is guarded by stone slabs and pillars. Inscribed on the pillars are the couplets: "Water drips from the high mountains for thousands of years, while the clear spring on the stone flows for eternity." The spring water is crystal clear and delicious.
