Introducing Ailian Pond

Ailian Pond is located in Xingzi County, at the southern foot of Mount Lushan, east of Zhou Yu's command platform. The pond is square, over ten acres in size, and flows seamlessly into the river. It is surrounded by stone walls and weeping willows. Lotus flowers, cascading in petals, fill the pond, their fragrance faint but unripe, unlike lotus roots. It is said that Zhou Yu's famous poem "On the Love of the Lotus" was written here, hence the name " Ailian Pond . "

Curved stone bridges connect the terraces at both ends. The northern section features a 20- meter-long, five-span, six-arch zigzag stone bridge, while the southern section features an 18- meter-long, three-span, four-arch bluestone flat bridge. The pond is divided into ten sections, planted with lotus flowers, which are " to be admired from a distance, not touched . " As Zuo Heshui's poem "Love Lotus Pond and Admiring Lotus" puts it: " A graceful figure dances in the pond, her rosy complexion adorned with short green makeup. A string of pearls captivates visitors on the shore, their fragrance inhaled before they even see their charming face. "
