Zaoyuan, also known as Yanyuan, is located 8 kilometers northwest of the city. It is densely wooded and has beautiful scenery. Every Double Ninth Festival, the trees are full of red dates and the branches are covered with peach and plum trees. The Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee was stationed here from 1944 to 1947 .
Mao Zedong wrote works such as "Study and Current Affairs" and "On the Chongqing Negotiations" here. The former residences of Mao Zedong, Liu Shaoqi, Zhou Enlai, Zhu De, Zhang Wentian, Peng Dehuai and others, as well as the small auditorium of the Secretariat, are now preserved here.
In Zaoyuan, there are also the former residences of Comrade Mao Zedong, Comrade Zhu De, Comrade Zhou Enlai, Comrade Liu Shaoqi, and Comrade Ren Bishi, all of which are of great historical significance. Zaoyuan is home to a wide variety of flowers, plants, and trees, with various buildings dotted among them, creating a beautiful and charming scenery.
