Nanniwan, a scenic spot in Yan'an, is located on the Xi'an - Yellow Emperor's Mausoleum - Yan'an - Nanniwan - Hukou Waterfall - Xi'an tourist loop in Shaanxi Province. Nanniwan is the birthplace of the Yan'an spirit and the origin of China's agricultural reclamation cause.
Nanniwan is the southern gate of Yan'an. During the Great Production Movement, the 359th Brigade of the Eighth Route Army settled here, standing as a banner of self-reliance. In the autumn of 1943 , Mao Zedong visited Nanniwan.
Visitors can visit the large terraced fields that were reclaimed in those days, the Nanniwan Great Production Movement Exhibition Hall, Mao Zedong's former residence during his inspection of Nanniwan, Jiulong Spring, and the Martyrs' Monument. The Nanniwan Great Production Movement Exhibition Hall details the events of the Nanniwan Great Production Movement through objects and pictures.
