Recently, my family and I visited Hinoki Village in Chiayi, embarking on a journey filled with history and cultural charm. This park is the first forest-themed cultural and creative park in the country, preserving 29 wooden Japanese-style dormitories from the Japanese colonial period, making it feel like stepping into a little Kyoto. We strolled among the red-tiled wooden houses, admiring the elegance and tranquility of traditional Japanese architecture. Within the park, the "Chiayi Forestry Club," a designated municipal historic site, showcases the history and culture of Alishan forestry. Additionally, there are creative markets, handicraft workshops, and unique coffee shops, allowing us to enjoy food and shopping while appreciating the architecture. This trip to Hinoki Village not only deepened our understanding of Chiayi's historical heritage but also strengthened the bonds within our family.
