On a relaxing trip around Hainan Island, we arrived in Dongfang today. A must-see in Dongfang is Yulinzhou.
Yulinzhou is located on the beach southwest of Basuo Town in Dongfang City, Hainan. According to historical records, Yulinzhou was listed as one of Hainan's scenic spots as early as the 40th year of Emperor Kangxi's reign in the Qing Dynasty. Facing the rolling waves of the vast sea, Yulinzhou boasts numerous peculiar peaks, rocks of various shapes, and ground covered with green grass and shrubs, where mountain flowers bloom year-round. On the beach, the sand is fine, white, and soft. The sea is vast and blue, with small boats shuttling in the shallows and white sails dotting the distant sea, while seagulls soar in the sky. Waves driven by the sea wind crash against the stone walls, splashing up heaps of snow-white foam. The rhythmic roar of the waves, like rolling thunder, creates a harmonious soundscape.
The lighthouse at Yulinzhou, a landmark of Dongfang City, serves as an important navigation beacon for the Beibu Gulf. It stands on a rocky hill about 20 to 30 meters high by the sea. The lighthouse keepers are truly admirable, overcoming loneliness and other difficulties to bring light to ships sailing afar.
