The "Asanogawa Ōhashi" in Kanazawa, built in 1922 (Taisho 11), is renowned for its elegant triple-arch concrete structure, representing the Taisho Romantic style. In 2000, it was honored as a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan.
The bridge's evening lights and riverside lanterns create a romantic atmosphere, especially on weekends, making it a perfect spot for a stroll. You can combine your visit with a walk through Higashi Chaya District and Kazue-machi to enjoy the riverside tea house culture.
Spanning the "Onna-gawa" (Female River), Asanogawa Ōhashi is flanked by silhouettes of tea house streets and old townhouses. In spring, the riverside is adorned with blooming cherry blossoms, reflecting beautifully on the water. Tatami seating is set up over the river for traditional Kaga-style tea ceremonies. At dusk, the bridge's soft white arches and their reflections create a picturesque romantic scene.
📍 Location: Asanogawa Ōhashi (Hashiba-machi to Higashi-yama, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture)
