Located in Kurama Kibune-cho, Kyoto, Kifune Shrine is the head shrine of all Kifune shrines in Japan. It is an ancient temple with a history of more than a thousand years. It is said to be the birthplace of Japanese ema and water divination. The shrine enshrines the god of water, Takayasu-gami, and has been highly respected and admired by the Japanese royal family since ancient times. It is said that it is particularly effective in praying for a good relationship. If praying for a good relationship is the first priority and maple viewing is the second, Kifune Shrine is a popular choice in the Kansai region. The maple viewing itinerary can start with the Eizan Electric Railway's observation train "KIRARA". In order to cooperate with the shrine's evening lighting event "Kifune Red Leaf Lantern" held in November every year, all light sources in the car will be turned off when the train approaches the red leaf line, making the night maple scenery outside the window more beautiful.
After arriving at the station, you will be led along the shrine road called "Love Road". Climb up the stone steps lined with candlelit autumn lanterns on both sides. You can enjoy the autumn maple night illuminated by the soft lights at the main shrine in the mountains and forests, and you may have a chance to meet your soulmate.
