Okinawa Prefectural Museum and Art Museum (Okimyu)
This place is affectionately known as Okimyu
It is the prefecture's first multi-purpose cultural facility that combines the functions of a museum and an art museum
I haven't had a chance to go for a while, but finally I did.
The building is modeled after Okinawa's gusuku (castles) and combines modern design.
The corridor next to the entrance is a famous photo spot for me π· lol
When the weather is nice, the light shines in like a lattice and casts shadows, which makes it even more beautiful.
It is made of Ryukyu limestone.
The large pillars that stand up to the high ceiling in the museum are designed to look like trees.
I looked it up and found out that they are modeled after the Japanese elm tree.
The building itself is wonderful, but inside the museum you can see and learn about Okinawa's nature, history, culture, art, etc. ππ
It's in Naha city, so it's relatively easy to access, and DFS Galleria is nearby, so be sure to check it out as well.
I didn't stop by this time, but there is also a cafe inside the museum βοΈ
