Canyoning in Nikko Kinugawa

Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, is a popular tourist destination.
I visited several cafes near Nikko Toshogu Shrine.
•CONTACT NIKKO
A cafe set in a vintage trailer with a stepped eat-in area.
Their specialty is tacos created in collaboration with a soba noodle craftsman.
I had already decided on a place to have lunch, so I just grabbed a coffee. They were open even after dark.
•Hongu Cafe
A cafe renovated from a 300-year-old traditional Japanese house on the approach to Hongu Shrine, the birthplace of the World Heritage Site "Shrines and Temples of Nikko."
My goal this time was to try the limited-time clam chowder.
The bread is made with Nikko Kanaya Hotel's Royal Bread and is topped with Nikko maitake mushrooms and Nikko yuba.
It's incredibly delicious, but be warned: the portions are huge.
•Kumoizu Nikko Branch
A cafe where you can sample "Nihonkashi," a new type of sweet that's neither Japanese nor Western.
The monkey-shaped soppo-yaki is a popular treat.
Nikko Coffee Goyotei-dori
A traditional Japanese-style cafe nestled on the street leading to the main gate of the Imperial Villa.
Nikko Coffee is synonymous with Nikko.
The Goyotei-dori branch's signature dish is black curry.
I only had tea, but next time I come, I'd like to try the curry, too.
