A Hidden Slice of Military Heritage

During my Taipei trip, I stumbled upon Heart Village in Beitou—and I’m so glad I did. It’s the only hot spring military dependents’ village left in Taiwan, and the stories inside each room hit differently. Some spaces show kids’ play areas, while others feel like frozen homes, complete with slippers by the door and thermos flasks on the table.

The village blends history, everyday life, and Beitou’s hot spring culture into one meaningful visit. It’s peaceful, informative, and very photogenic too! Don’t just pass by—take your time to walk through and feel the past living quietly in the present.
