|Sanya + Wanning + Lingshui. I spent 15 days in Hainan, visiting Sanya, Wanning, and Lingshui. Here's a detailed itinerary for anyone planning a trip to Hainan.

Preparation

Best time to visit: November to March. The temperature is 25–30°C, the sun is shining, and the sea is clear.

Budget: For a mid-range budget, stay in a sea-view guesthouse or budget hotel, eat seafood and local snacks, take taxis and buses, and visit attractions and water activities. The average cost is CNY 8,000–10,000 per person for 15 days.

Tips: Don't trust seafood restaurants that solicit customers on the street, as they may overcharge you. Souvenirs sold by vendors near attractions are overpriced, so remember to bargain. Agree on the price and duration of water activities in advance.

Transportation

Arrival: Fly directly to Sanya Phoenix International Airport. There are many flights and convenient transportation.

Getting around: Sanya has convenient buses and taxis. Wanning and Lingshui attractions are scattered, so it's recommended to rent a car. The coastal highway is a great drive with beautiful scenery.

Accommodation

Sanya: Stay in Dadonghai for a lively atmosphere and convenient dining and entertainment. Stay in Yalong Bay for a quiet atmosphere and sea views. The hotels have great beaches. Stay in Haitang Bay for a budget-friendly option near the duty-free shop.

Wanning: Stay in a guesthouse in Riyue Bay for a great atmosphere, beautiful sea views, and a chance to meet surfing pros. The beach bars are great at night.

Lingshui: Stay in a hotel near Clearwater Bay for a great value. The beach is fine and the sea is blue, perfect for a vacation.

Food

Sanya: You must try the seafood. The First Market has a wide variety of fresh seafood. Choose your seafood and take it to a restaurant to be cooked. The spicy Hele crab and steamed grouper are delicious. Try the Baoluo noodles, which are smooth and chewy with a rich broth.

Wanning: Don't miss the Nanyang snacks in Xinglong. The pandan cake is soft and sweet, and the coffee is rich and full of Southeast Asian flavor.

Lingshui: The Lingshui sour noodles are spicy and appetizing, with rich toppings like fish cakes, beef jerky, and peanut worms.

Sanya (7 days)
Day 1: Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park → Yalong Bay Beach → Baihuagu Shopping Street (Experience the tropical rainforest, stroll along the beautiful beach, and enjoy the food on the shopping street at night)
Day 2: Nanshan Cultural Tourism Zone (Admire the 108-meter Guanyin statue and experience the Buddhist culture)
Day 3: Wuzhizhou Island (White sand, blue sea, and the filming location of "Personal Tailor")
Day 4: Luhuitou Park (Visit in the evening to overlook the Sanya night view and hear romantic legends)
Day 5: Yalong Bay Underwater World (Try water activities like diving and jet skiing, and explore the underwater world)
Day 6: Haitang Bay Duty-Free Shop (Go on a shopping spree with great deals on big brands)
Day 7: Dadonghai → Night Market (Enjoy the water at Dadonghai and eat snacks at the night market)

Wanning (4 days)
Day 8: Shimei Bay → Jiajing Island (See the green forest at Shimei Bay and snorkel to see coral at Jiajing Island)
Day 9: Riyue Bay (A paradise for surfers with beautiful sea views and beach bars at night)
Day 10: Xinglong Tropical Botanical Garden (See rare tropical plants and learn about coffee making)
