Yanfang, also known as Yanfang, is located in Jintan Town. Founded in the mid-Southern Song Dynasty, Yanfang boasts a history of over 800 years. Its origins can be traced back to over 600 BCE during the Spring and Autumn Period, Eastern Zhou Dynasty, and Warring States Period. A general named Shi (Shi, meaning "Shengda") was granted a new land and named the State of Yan. His descendants adopted the surname "Yan." Around 100 AD during the Han Dynasty, Yan Xixun (the ancestor of the Yan clan) was recognized for his contributions in resisting the Xiongnu. He was awarded the title of General of Taiyuan, Shanxi, and was granted the title of Military Strategy. He was also granted the title of Marquis of Yanling in Pingyang (present-day Linfen, Shanxi). From then on, the surname "Yan" was changed to "Yan."
