Jintan Ancient Forest, also known as Taihe Mazhou, is located on the banks of the Ganjiang River in Tangzhou Town. It is a famous scenic spot in Ji'an City and a creative base for the Jiangxi Provincial Photographers Association. Due to the long-term alluvial deposits of the river, many flat lawns and lush wetlands have been formed.
Jiangxi, historically known as the "Hometown of Camphorwood," preserves large areas of ancient camphor trees, including some rarely seen in China. Taihe's camphor trees are particularly striking, with the Mazhou ancient camphor forest in Taihe, Jiangxi, covering over 200 mu (approximately 800 acres) and dating back over 800 years. The camphor trees, each in a unique form, resemble graceful dancing maidens, mighty generals standing tall, and elderly men with canes, each showcasing its own unique charm.
Jintan Ancient Forest is located on the bank of Ganjiang River, south of Jintan Village, Zhujia Village, Tangzhou Town, Taihe County. It faces Taihe’s historical scenic spot "Longtou Mountain Gouzinao Tower" across the river. Locals call it Mazhou. This ancient camphor forest covers an area of about 300 acres. The ancient trees in the forest are towering and lush, and there are many precious tree species growing there, such as camphor trees, maple trees, wax trees, and oil bead trees.
The subtropical humid monsoon climate creates a beautiful ecological landscape in early summer, with lawns covered in lush greenery, shadows swaying among the branches of tall trees, water birds frolicking in the wetlands, and egrets flying everywhere. Summer is the best time to visit.
On scorching summer days, the majestic trees of Jintan Ancient Forest spread their dense branches, lending the entire grove a tranquil and serene air, a spring-like coolness. Strolling through the dense forest, the delicate fragrance of camphorwood wafts through, permeating the heart. Sunlight filters through the dense foliage, casting a shimmering, dreamlike, and ethereal light. Looking around, a sea of green greets the eye: rows of yellow-green tree trunks, clusters of deep green leaves, and clumps of tender, verdant grass—a verdant, intoxicating lushness.
