A beautiful temple with Lanna architecture, Wat Phan Tao is located in the heart of Chiang Mai, near Wat Chedi Luang. Originally named "Wat Pan Tao" (a thousand times), it means that making merit once will bring merit back a thousand times.

Phra Wihan Ho Kham Luang: This temple's highlight is built entirely of teakwood in the Chiang Saen style. It was originally the residence of King Mahotaraprades, the fifth ruler of Chiang Mai, before being dismantled and donated to Wat Phan Tao as the temple's temple.

The entrance to the temple is decorated with beautifully carved peacocks, a symbol of northern royalty. Inside the temple is an ancient pulpit.

Behind Phra Wihan Ho Kham Luang stands the temple's principal chedi, a bell-shaped chedi on an octagonal base, surrounded by golden chedis.
