【Hong Kong】The Palace Museum has a new exhibition 3: Rotating Latest Collections: New Dragon Robes, Self-Playing Clocks!

My old home, the Palace Museum Cultural Museum, has new collections again!

The Palace Museum in Beijing has a system: all clothing and paintings are displayed for three months, then must be sent back to Beijing for two years of protection and restoration to reduce damage caused by light pollution and air humidity.

This means: some of the exhibits in the permanent exhibitions in Palace Museum Halls 1 and 2 are regularly rotated, so there are at least four opportunities a year to see new collections!

This time, several rotating exhibits in Halls 1 and 2 include:

✴️ Emperor Qianlong’s 12-Emblem Auspicious Robe (worn for summer celebrations and festivals)
✴️ Emperor Qianlong’s 12-Emblem Court Robe (worn for official court duties)
✴️ Multiple self-playing clocks made by the Imperial Workshop and imported from Britain
✴️ A British-made phonograph used by Puyi

The Qing Dynasty military exhibition in Hall 4 also has many new rotating collections, worth seeing again!

💰 Average spending: 70 yuan (Halls 1-7, excluding special exhibitions 8-9)

Great place to visit
Perfect for photo ops
