[Wakayama] Tour Mount Koya Kongobu-ji Temple

Mount Koya is also known as a religious city in the sky.

I went to Koya on a fine summer day!

Mount Koya is a sacred place of Esoteric Shingon Buddhism founded by Kobo Daishi Kukai about 1200 years ago. Because it is in the mountains, it is a little cooler than the ground and easy to visit even in summer.

You can get there by car, but I went by train and cable car! It's okay if you don't have a car 👌🏻

One of the highlights of Mount Koya is Kongobu-ji Temple.

The garden is wonderful, and there are many things to see inside, such as paintings on the sliding doors! I took my time to look around.

Because it is in the mountains, it often snows in the winter, and when the snow piles up, it creates an even more mystical atmosphere. (However, it is cold, so be sure to dress warmly!)

Mount Koya is a historic spot that I would recommend not only for people from overseas, but also for Japanese people!
