Finally found the hidden paradise deep in the mountains of Guizhou – Huanggang Dong Village!

Here, there's no commercial hustle and bustle, only over 800 years of historical heritage and more than 300 authentic stilt houses.

Upon entering the village, I saw water buffaloes leisurely bathing in the water, villagers making wine using traditional methods by the roadside, and women pounding fabric for persimmon dyeing. Everything felt so simple and natural. What fascinated me most were the five drum towers in the village, especially seeing the village elder's handwritten solar term farming calendar in the Gaoluo Drum Tower, which exuded a strong sense of daily life.

Fortunately, I also visited the 300-year-old Wu Jiao'an Old House. The three-story building is well-preserved, and the old cured meat still hangs above the earthen stove on the second floor, as if time itself has slowed down here. In the evening, I shared a meal of authentic Guizhou cuisine at the guesthouse, listening to the distant Dong Grand Songs. This feeling was truly therapeutic.

✅ Practical Tips:

- Transportation: There are two round-trip buses daily from Zhaoxing Dong Village. The ticket costs 25 yuan, and the journey takes 1 hour. Make sure to note down the departure times in advance.
- Accommodation: There are only 5 or 6 guesthouses in the village, so it's recommended to book in advance. Staying overnight is the only way to truly experience the morning and night in the Dong Village.
- Food: Be sure to try the local sour fish soup and cured meat. The guesthouse owners prepare them very authentically.
- Festivals: If you happen to catch the "Hantian Festival" on the 15th day of the sixth lunar month or the "Taiguanren" festival in the first lunar month, you'd be incredibly lucky to witness the most traditional Dong culture.
- Photography: The light in the early morning and evening is best for photography, especially when the drying racks are full of golden rice, making for excellent shots.
