Summer's Exclusive Sky Festival: Luye Highland Hot Air Balloon Carnival

Every summer, the skies above Luye Highland are illuminated by vibrant hot air balloons. At around 5 a.m., I stepped onto the dewy grass at the venue. Amidst the morning mist, colorful balloons slowly inflated and ascended, creating a scene as romantic as an animated film.

The event features not only classic-shaped balloons but also delightful surprises like cartoon characters and animal designs. Many photography enthusiasts have already secured their spots to capture the perfect shot, while children excitedly wave at the balloons in the sky. Besides admiring the balloons, visitors can sign up for a tethered balloon experience, standing in the basket to feel the gentle ascent. Below lies a lush green valley and the winding Luye River.

It's recommended to arrive early to avoid the crowds and enjoy local snacks while waiting for the breathtaking view of the sunrise alongside the hot air balloons—a quintessentially beautiful moment of summer in Taitung.
