Yoyogi Park 代々木公園

#tokyospots
As someone who lives and works near Shinjuku, Yoyogi Park is my sanctuary and my main fitness hub. The running paths here are perfectly maintained, providing a soft, forgiving surface that’s easy on the knees. I typically do a loop that covers the inner wooded areas and skirts the fountain—it totals a refreshing 5k. What elevates this park above others is the sheer energy on the weekends. It’s not just a place to exercise; it's a place to live. Seeing dozens of groups doing choreographed dances, practicing music, or having huge family gatherings is incredibly motivational. It feels less like a quiet retreat and more like a pulsating hub of creativity and community. If you plan to visit, come early on a Saturday or Sunday morning before 9 AM to appreciate the calm, and then stay to watch the park slowly wake up into its beautiful, chaotic glory.
