Hike the stunning Lagazuoi tunnels at an affordable rate

If you are looking to hike the Dolomites, a good option is to stay at Rifugios which offer affordable accommodation for hikers and are often located directly on the hiking trails. Most Rifugios provide the option of dinner (generally under 15 EUR) and cost about 40-70 EUR a night. Do note that they should be booked months in advance (e.g. January for a summer trip) as spaces are limited and fill up quickly.

At Lagazuoi, a good option is to hike through the historic WW1 tunnels up to Rifugio Lagazuoi and stay there for the night. The cable car is also an option if you have a lot of baggage, but costs 30 EUR (return) whereas the tunnels are free. Do note that you will need safety equipment (helmets, headlights) for the tunnels as they are very dark. The path is fairly easy as there are handrails but can be slippery in rain. The views at the top at Rifugio Lagazuoi make it worth it!
