[Tokyo/Nezu Shrine] Bunkyo Azalea Festival

The Azalea Garden is located within Nezu Shrine.
You can only enter the garden during the Azalea Festival, which is held every year from mid-April to early May.
The garden was started when Tokugawa Tsunashige, the older brother of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi, the fifth shogun of the Edo shogunate, had a mansion here, and planted azaleas in the garden.
Today, you can see 3,000 azaleas of 100 varieties.

Brilliant deep pink, soft pink, white...
If you look from a little distance, the azaleas look like a carpet.
The tower gate viewed from a slightly elevated spot is a highlight!
