The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden

The location of the garden right on the shores of White Rock Lake adds an unexpected layer of ambiance to the fall visit. Even if the Texas heat is still lingering, the breeze coming off the water provides welcome relief. More importantly, the view of the lake framed by the colorful pumpkin displays and blooming mums is spectacular. It breaks up the intensity of the close-up harvest displays with a wide, calming vista of blue water. We took a break near the edge of the property, watching the sailboats, which added a relaxing, almost coastal feeling to our landlocked fall celebration.
